What if I only have 10 minutes remaining to submit to anything?
Essay deadlines
Work schemes
Finishing payment on the cart
Making that call
Confessing to the one, because the plane is about to take off
Placing the last order, because due to the pandemic, the restaurant is closing 3 hours earlier
Saying I am sorry
Booking tickets
Making an instant escape plan from the grip of an uncivilised boss or the grip of a rapist
Calling my mom, telling I love her
Finishing the dishes, cooking the lunch
Assuring I was ready because my Uber (or Grab or Go-Jek) will only wait for that long
The point is, what if I only have 10 minutes? Why does it always look easier to continue with the procrastination or slowing down?
I mean, slowing down is fine, sure. If anything, the whole 2020 taught me exactly that: being slow won’t kill you
What I was trying to say is that, what if there are gazillion things 10 minutes can do?
For instance, reading this particular classic writing, and perhaps, pondering over it in between
Yet, life taught me that 10 minutes is indeed, a lot
10 minutes short films can take days, weeks, even years to be made
10 minutes, the last of the whole exam hours, was the the moment answers (not necessarily “correct” ones) overflooding my consciousness
10 minutes was the time gap that took place when I rode with someone; feeling enormously flown to cloud nine, and then thrown mercilessly to the house of Hades
10 minutes straight on stage, singing and dancing, for the first time in your life, can literally kills you
10 minutes remaining was what saving me from missing my flight in Nanjing, China, the land where I speak zero language of (yet stupidly overslept in)
10 minutes was how long my first job interview was. It didn’t end well, but it prepared me for the next one, another 10 minutes, and worked
10 minutes was the period where I found out I made dramatic mistake in my IELTS test
Maybe, to be precise, I am writing here because I want to remind myself how pivotal 10 minutes is, and how massive changes can be made
So, I’mma drop the case now, and start working seriously for the next 10 minutes
